I do a lot on my phone in my spare time and trust me, you and I should be using that as a money-making opportunity.

And instead of handing out points like a lot of other paid online survey sites, InboxDollars shells out money- real money.

The way it works is brands and companies will pay InboxDollars for getting input from consumers. So then when you complete surveys and shop from marketing companies, you can actually earn money.

How Much Money Can I Make?

There are many ways to make easy cash with InboxDollars, and each task can earn you anywhere from $0.01 – $5.

Now a few cents may not seem like much or worth your time, but some online tasks are just a few minutes, so in my opinion, it’s not too bad since your free time isn’t bringing in money anyway!

I found that I mostly made $0.5 – $0.75 in paid surveys that were around 10 – 15 minutes each. So if I took 6 10-minute surveys at $0.50, I’d make $3 an hour. Not bad for taking surveys while I watched TV.

Some users have found that they don’t always earn more than $1 or $2, so it may not be as worthwhile as other sites, but it’s easy money, so many people find it worthwhile.

You can cash out your cash rewards once you reach $30, which is a bit higher than other paid survey sites, but if you use it every day, it’s a feasible target to reach.

How to Make Money With InboxDollars

InboxDollars pays you in PayPal cash, a prepaid Visa card, and gift cards, but you need to earn points by doing small tasks and activities.

You can go to your dashboard online (I prefer the website but whatever works for you) and see what’s on there for money-making opportunities. 

There’s one tip to easily navigate InboxDollars: the purple buttons. Basically, look for the purple buttons — those usually use words like “earn,” “do,” or “learn more.”

Purple buttons = rewards for you.

Online Surveys

InboxDollars entered my life when I wanted to get paid for market research, just easy questions I could answer for a little extra cash, and it was exactly what I was looking for.

The first way you can make cash with InboxDollars is by taking surveys. They have survey providers that create market research questionnaires, and literally, you just offer your opinion and get paid for answering surveys that are basically market questionnaires.

At the top of your InboxDollars dashboard, you’ll see the “Survey” tab. This will take you to your Survey Notification Dashboard where you’ll see all the surveys you can take.

Each survey lists an estimated completion time and how much you’ll earn by taking it.

Many of the surveys pay $0.50 and take about 5 minutes- that’s about $6 per hour if you take the whole 5 minutes to answer the questions.

The payouts and completion times vary from $0.05 to $5 and from 5 minutes and up. I’ve mostly seen short 5 or 10-minute surveys, but some users have gotten 20-minute surveys too.

Once you earn points and have about $30, you can make payment requests to cash out.

Scroll down a bit and you’ll see that you can also “spin” to earn cash, survey tokens, and sweepstakes entries (called “sweeps” to get a cash prize or gift cards!). But first, you have to accumulate “spins” and you can’t win rewards until you do.

InboxDollars Search Engine

Another way to collect rewards and get paid through InboxDollars is by using the internet and using the InboxDollars Search Engine.

For every four searches, you make via the InboxDollars search engine, you get one penny and three “sweeps.”

Remember sweeps? These are entries into a sweepstake or a giveaway with different InboxDollars rewards, you even have a chance to earn a cash reward. 

Some sweeps are given to you when you surf the internet or when you answer surveys- you get a sweeps entry, where you enter basic info, like name and phone number, and that’s it.

I got one with a survey was an entry to win a Target gift card, it was super simple and just an extra chance to make some extra money.

A lot of the options on your main dashboard include subscribing to different services and signing up for products from InboxDollars’ partner companies and other third-party sites.

This could be signing up for emails, signing up to try a new service, or so far as to get a credit card from a store you shop at.

The Final Verdict: InboxDollars Review

So is InboxDollars worth it? Is the payoff worth the time spent doing all these things?

My verdict: InboxDollars is not the best money-making option, but it’s basically free money. Out of all the sites we’ve used, we think InboxDollars is great, but some sites like Swagbucks may be more your style if you’re looking to earn more and boost your bank account quicker.

It depends on just what your standards are, this could be a good chance to earn a few extra bucks while you’re doing other things or in between other work. If you know what you’re doing.

First, don’t let them spam your inbox because that means you’ll waste time deleting all those emails.

To do this, visit the “Account” link at the very top-right corner. Scroll down until you see “Email Subscriptions” and you can unsubscribe from some or all of their emails.

Next, you have to take note of how long a task (survey, internet search, etc.) is taking you versus how much it’s paying you.

It’s helpful to figure out how much you’re making per hour, then you can easily compare it to your other income. Always chase your best ROI (return on investment).

InboxDollars is definitely legit, we use it ourselves and would give you the skinny if it turned out to be a sham! 

If you check out the Better Business Bureau, Inbox Dollars isn’t accredited or anything, but the only problem they see is that other companies try to copy them and scam people- the complaints aren’t about InboxDollars being a scam at all!

How do I get paid?

Inbox Dollars is a great way to earn cash! You gain rewards by taking surveys, playing online games, and redeeming coupons.

It’s all very little effort and free cash for you.

They pay you via PayPal account, a prepaid Visa card, some prepaid debit cards, or other free gift cards.

Taking surveys won’t replace your full-time job or fill up your bank account, but it can bring it some extra cash to put towards your bills or buy you some free Starbucks drinks this month.

You’ll need $30 before you can cash out your rewards, but if you take a few surveys a day and shop online, your time really piles up into cash.

You can get faster cash payouts after your first payment, or if you become a Gold member. Every time I’ve cashed, including the first time, it’s been simple and pretty quick!

The only thing we found in our research was that there may be a processing fee, some sites said up to $30 when you cash out your rewards of less than $40.

So you may want to wait to deposit your Paypal cash until that or swing for the gift card route.

It’s a great option to win gift cards- that’s basically free cash value for you! Brittany loves getting gift cards for Starbucks and Target, though I’m always cashing out for Amazon gift cards.

You can also request a check for your payout, but it can take up to 5 or more business days to get to you, whereas Paypal deposits and e-gift cards can be much quicker.

The InboxDollars app will have multiple surveys, games, and coupon offers on there, so how much you earn and when is up to you.

Tasks can earn you $0.01 – $5 per tasks- the longer the task, the more you’ll earn.

Each survey site is different, but you have a payout amount and a certain timeframe where you’ll wait for your money to deposit.

As we said before, you need $30 to get your InboxDollars payout, and how active you are on the app determines how long it takes for you to get your money.

Once you put in a payout request, your money will be deposited or e-gift cards sent usually the following Wednesday.

So, what are your thoughts after reading our InboxDollars review? 

At the end of the day, InboxDollars is not a huge money-maker in our mind, though somewhat worth the effort at times when you’re looking to add just a few dollars in your pocket.

If you look at the average per-hour income, it’s behind some of the other survey sites. I’m talking less than a dollar per hour some days, which is a lot less than what you can make through similar sites, like Survey Junkie.

That’s why you should view InboxDollars as an easy way to earn a few extra bucks every once in a while, especially if you can do it during or in between other tasks or jobs (like blogging!).

You may as well earn some moolah playing games and answering surveys, all of which are easy and don’t take much time anyway.

Once you’ve gone through all of your fixed expenses like the ones above, turn your attention to your variable expenses.

Check your card statement for extra things you can cut back on- and maybe avoid using the card too often!

Look at your categories in these areas and see what you can go without for a little while e.g. date nights, trips out.

21. Start Investing

The whole point of investing is to grow your money rather than find ways to borrow money.

The best way to invest, however, is to leave money in there for a long time, not take it out for quick cash.

There’s no time like the present to start investing- and some platforms, such as Robinhood, offer a free sign-up bonus that you can use.

You can hopefully get some money quite quickly from investing due to the high returns offered.

22. Refinance Student Loans

If you have student loans, you may want to refinish them to free up some cash- and improve your credit score if credit is holding you back.

Debt is sometimes an endless cycle, from student loans to card bills to medical bills, so paying off your schooling can make a big difference.

Some companies to check out for this include Sofi and LendKey.

23. Refinance Your Car Payment(s)

Car payments can be one of the most expensive parts of your budget, if you have one (or more!).

When you need money, it sometimes means you need to save money on what you’re already buying!

You may be able to refinance your car payment and save hundreds- it never hurts to get some quotes and see if you can get the same coverage for less.

Loans

When you need money ASAP, you might look into a few ways to borrow money instantly and get flexible repayment terms so paying off isn’t so hard.

Many people will look to loans as the answer when they need money, even if it’s just a short-term loan to get them through some tough times.

Loans can be a better option compared to credit cards since the interest is typically lower, but you need to research before you get a loan!

Some loans, just like cards, can get you money within one business day or 24 hours, BUT you may be stuck with crazy fees or higher interest rates.

You may wonder what loan you’re able to get, even with bad credit, so here is an option to avoid and a few options to check out:

Payday Loans- Oh No!

Have you had a payday loan before? It’s a way you can get approved fast and borrow money instantly, but not one most people recommend.

Not many people get payday loans these days, and there are many reasons I don’t suggest you get a payday loan, either!

We’ve heard horror stories from people trying to pay back their payday loans. 

It may seem okay to borrow money online instantly because there isn’t an interest rate per se, but you may pay back way more than other loans with plain old interest rates!

Payday loans are short-term loans that don’t check for good or bad credit, BUT people get outrageous fees- like paying $15 for every $100 borrowed.

A 2-week payday loan can have a fee of up to $30, which is a huge markup, hence why you should avoid them.

Payday lenders include online sites like Speedy Cash and PersonalLoans (previously Zippy Loans).

Here are the best alternatives we’ve found to high interest rates with payday loans and auto title loans:

1. Personal Loan

If you want to borrow money instantly, the first step to getting quick cash can be getting a personal loan from a bank or credit union.

A personal loan is a fixed amount of money at a fixed rate, very simple and straightforward to get quick cash in your bank account.

You can quickly borrow money online instantly with your bank within minutes or even compare rates with multiple lenders.

But keep in mind even a short-term personal loan is still debt just like medical bills and credit card bills, and they’ll do credit checks to figure out your interest rate.

If you have a good credit score, things could line up nicely for you and you can get the money you need without paying insane interest on it.

2. Home Equity Loan

After a personal loan, a home equity loan is a great idea to borrow money instantly without spiraling into high debt.

These typically have a low-interest rate, but obviously, use caution if you’ve got a bad credit score that may make loans a bigger debt for you.

It works by lenders loaning you the money secured against the value of your home, so speak to your mortgage lenders about it.

Federally chartered credit unions are usually a good bet to borrow money online instantly.

Credit unions offer low-interest home equity loans, among other great benefits, so if you haven’t, you may want to check out credit unions near you and join!

3. Retirement Loan

Rather than find a way to add to your checking account, why not see if your other accounts have some money for an emergency?

The money in your retirement account is your money, and you can borrow money in it as needed without a bad credit score in the way.

A lot of plans, such as a 401(k), allow you to borrow money from your retirement account and pay it back with interest.

So, skip the credit checks, and see what other money you still have available. 

4. Credit Card Balance Transfer

Rather than borrow money, you can actually redistribute your debt to avoid high interest rates.

If you have debt, then you can look into doing a credit card balance transfer among your credit cards.

This is a good idea as it should save you a lot when you’re concerned about a high-interest rate and don’t want more loans to add to bad credit.

Debt is still debt, but putting more on a credit card with 12% interest is better than spread out on cards with 23%, 26%, and more.

5. Credit Card Cash Advance

There are a few way to borrow money instantly, and most people don’t think about their credit card as a loan- but that’s kind of what it is!

Rather than ask for a payroll advance, you can get a credit card cash advance to get money from an ATM, regardless of good or bad credit.

ATMs are all over and available 24 hours a day, so it’s easy and quick whenever you need cash advances.

This is a newer way to borrow money; you’ll have to pay interest on this, which will be higher than your usual credit card rate.

6. Peer Lending

We’ve spoken before about Peer Lending as a way to make passive income, but this is on the other side of that.

You would borrow money from someone when you need money quickly and don’t want bad credit to be in the way. 

One of our favorite online lender sites for this is LendingClub which we recommend you check out and see what flexible repayment terms you can get.

7. Payday Alternative Loan (PAL)

Another loan offered by credit unions is PALs, where you can borrow money: ranging from $200 – $1,000 for an average of 28% interest and a small application fee for the loan.

There weren’t any mentions of a credit check either, so it seems like you could borrow money online instantly with this option.

We looked into Nerdwallets info on PALs and found that you can have bad credit, and you can get approved and get the money without waiting a month like other places. 

8. Installment Loans

Installment loans are another option if you have poor credit. You simply need to have a bank account and paycheck to prove you can repay the loan.

It’s similar to most loans, and there’s no credit check, but you need to review the interest rates- we saw one for as high as 400% APR on a loan of only $2,000.

When you’re thinking, “I need money asap please help!” it can feel a bit hopeless – but plenty of these options will help fill your bank account and get you money when you’re in need!

You can borrow money with personal loans, credit cards, and more, but avoid a payday loan and research what you have to pay back in interest.

But in my mind, you could make money fast and even passively rather than borrow money, and skip paying all that interest.

Keep in mind that the best side hustles really can make you fast cash without working around the clock,  whereas some loans may cost you more in the long run. 

Some side hustles can earn you over $1,000 a month, giving you more options to get what you need without having to borrow money.

She receives her regular salary in 10 installments of $6,000 each from September to June. So during the summer, her income is $0.

However, Ms. Smith’s contract also includes an option for her to teach summer school and be paid an additional $3,000 per course.

She can earn an additional $6,000 over the summer if she teaches two summer school courses, plus her contract allows her to start profitable side hustles to make more money.

So Ms. Smith can potentially earn a total of $66K per year if she does summer courses or other paying jobs.
